A League was born.

It was yet another hot summer in Texas in July of 2008 and while staying indoors and trying to keep cool, two brothers, Diesel and Lonestar, started the journey on creating a community, actually more like a family, of like minded individual drivers, looking to be part of a soon to be great organization.

Everything always starts as an idea. Yes, a thought in someone’s head. Then when the idea is discussed the idea spreads to others, and then the idea formulates into a goal. Diesel and Lonestar first brought the idea to the attention of the overall Gran Turismo (GT) community at the official playstation (PSU) forums. There were quite a few people that were opposed to the idea, responding by saying that it can’t be done, or why would anyone want to join, or the claim that it pulls people away from utilizing the GT PSU forums. On the other side, they got the attention of a few now league members, and an apprentice web programmer.

The original goal was to create a team of drivers, but expanded into forming a league. The first thing to accomplish was to create a nice little spot on the web, where Legit-Racing League (LRL) members, could get together and share ideas. The initial site was just a PHPBB forum, with limited functionality. Then in August of 2008, Nuich set-up the first fully functional web site. When Tripower was added to the roster, He, Metal, and Nuich created the first points accumulated racing series. Even with using the limited capabilities of GT5 (Prologue), they were able to incorporate multiple drivers in various divisions, and created a points scoring system so that drivers could participate in a championship type run.

The league had yet to break up into its component teams until the Shadow Drift Team signed onboard with LRL. Soon afterwards the individual drivers broke up into the current team structure. LRL continued to grow and garnered support from other various organizations, and were able to incorporate those teams into the LRL racing series.

Now here we are in September of 2009, and LRL is now taking another step forward. With the final release of Gran Turismo 5 on the horizon, LRL has created a new website, with a much needed facelift. Included in the site will be a points tracking system, along with statistics tracking of individual drivers and teams, a data compilation of user created tunes, a detailed track list, and much, much more.
